‘forced to feel’ is an album recorded after the trio of Eyal Maoz, Piero Bittolo Bon and Zeno De Rossi had already tested its chemistry on stage and captures the three musicians at a moment of deepened trust and heightened risk, refining a shared language forged in performance and now pushed further in the studio.
Maoz’s electric guitar unfolds volatile narratives shaped by rock, jazz, electronics, and Middle Eastern Jewish resonances; Bittolo Bon weaves between alto and baritone saxophones, shakuhachi, and electronics with a voice that oscillates between fragile lyricism and eruptive force; De Rossi sculpts the music from within, using drums and bells to bend time through texture, weight, and sudden fractures.
The session took place at La Pila, immersed in the fog-laden, metaphysical countryside of the Veneto plain, where fields dissolve into mist and silence feels suspended, amplifying every gesture and pause. In this brumous, almost otherworldly setting, the trio searches not for fusion but for fleeting coordinates—where songform erodes into noise, restraint meets excess, and listening becomes an act of shared exposure.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Giacomo Ferrigato on November 25, 2024, this release for Chant Records preserves improvisation as lived presence: a single, unrepeatable moment hovering between tension and release, instability and quiet celebration.
